Things got pretty heated on Monday’s taping of the view as the women discussed the use of the “N” word. It all began when Whoopi Goldberg was talking about Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry who runs a hunting camp called “Nigger”.
Goldberg then blurted the “N” word as she talked about Hermain Cain, a tea party candidate who used the full word during a press interview. Whoopi said “I don’t what to say these days………some call it the “N” word others say the full word….its useless to pretend the word doesn’t exist…. So let’s call it what it is.” Barbara Walters then weighed in on the conversation and that’s when things got heated.
Barbara starts off saying “It’s very hard for me to say “Nigger”…the fact that I just said it gives me the chills……but I think no one should use the word”. Sherri immediately stepped in and said the following:
When I heard you say it (speaking to Whoopi) it was fine, but when heard you say it( speaking to Barbara) I ididn’t like the way you said …….I don’t know if it’s a semantics thing but …it did something to my body”.Barbara then asks Sherri: “So what your’e saying is because I’m white, that I shouldn’t use the word? Sherri adamantly said: “Yeah..It’s a different connotation when a white person uses the word than a black person…..black people say “Nigga” and white people say “Nigger”.
